Top 10 Social Networking Sites by Market Share of Visits [August 2015]
As Google pulled the support from Plus social networking effort the numbers are dropping like a stone. If you look at the Google+ drop fror March 2015 4.08% to April 1.41% then it’s probably the time they decided to quit. In a few months Google+ will be gone from Top 10 of US social networks.
Told you so! On August 23, 2011 As you can see from older post Google was faking/misrepresenting it’s data the whole time:
- Google+ is failing! [DATA]
- Google+ Still Failing: Top 10 Social Networking Sites by Market Share of Visits [October 2011]
However, at some point I actually believed that Google can make their social network a success by sheer force and billions to spend.
But for some reason Google decided to let it go.
Market Share of Visits
- Facebook 45.58% (▲ up)
- YouTube 21.61% (▲ up)
- Twitter 4.77% (▲ up)
- Reddit 4.26% (▲ up)
- Pinterest 1.50% (▲ up)
- Tumblr 1.43% (▼ down)
- LinkedIn 1.37% (▲ up)
- Instagram 1.33% (▲ up)
- Yahoo! Answers 1.22% (▼ down)
- Google+ 1.08% (▼ down)
To put the percentages in perspective then the absolute number of visits of 1% of market share is approximately 37.1 million visits.
About this chart
Every month the chart lists the top 10 sites of that time by the market share of visits in US. Please note that it is just a percentage and 30% in January 2012 is a lot less than 30% in December 2012. The gaps in the the lines mean that the site wasn’t in the top 10 at that time. The chart is in logarithmic scale so that the smaller sites wouldn’t just a single line around 1% of social network market share.
I used an interactive chart making software Tableau Public for this visualization. If you don’t see anything below please try reload. If all else fails then:
