Welcome to my ZonBase review.
I wish I were you right now. You’re so lucky. There’s NOTHING like the rush of starting and growing an Amazon business, especially once you start seeing six figures.
BOSS MODE activated.
I’m an eCom junkie who’s used pretty much every tool for Amazon sellers including:
- Helium 10
- Jungle Scout
- ViralLaunch
- Black coffee and psychotherapy
- Unicorn Smasher
I decided to give ZonBase a try when a friend mentioned they had “done-for-you” services like hot products, listing optimization, and product validation.
I’m always looking for hacks to grow my online business, so I thought “eh, why not.”
I think my ZonBase review is unique because I can actually compare it with other tools I’ve used to grow my own business.
In this ZonBase review, I’ll cover:
- Why I really like the tool—but why it ultimately can’t compete with Helium 10
- A few really cool features that impressed me
- A few crucial flaws that every new Amazon seller needs to know about
- ZonBase pricing and whether it’s good value for money
- How it stacks up to competitors I’ve used in the past
Close your other tabs, grab a coffee, and let’s take a deep dive.
A Complete Review in 60 Seconds: Is ZonBase Worth the Money?
ZonBase is a solid, beginner-friendly platform that contains all the tools you need to start, launch, and grow an Amazon FBA business to a certain level.
It’s accurate, fast, and even has 1-to-1 mentorship from successful Amazon sellers.
It’s backed by Kevin David, an eCom “guru” with nearly 1.5 million YouTube subscribers, a successful FBA course, and multiple successful Amazon stores of his own. The guy clearly knows his S***.
If you want to start a store, ZonBase will absolutely, 100% help you find a winning product, build great listings, and grow your revenue with AI-powered marketing campaigns.
BUT IT’S ULTIMATELY FLAWED.
It just can’t compete with Helium 10.
Helium 10 is the ultimate Amazon FBA product suite and it’s cheaper than ZonBase.
Every six and seven-figure seller I know uses it, and I had barely heard of ZonBase until someone mentioned it to me recently.
ZonBase’s advanced plans are slightly cheaper annually, but they don’t include key marketing and management features. And that will ultimately limit your ability to scale.
If you want to save a few bucks on advanced plans and use a simple tool, be my guest. If you want to take your Amazon business seriously, then get Helium 10.
Why I Have No Choice but to Recommend Helium 10…
Helium 10 does everything that ZonBase does PLUS a ton that ZonBase can’t do AND you can start for FREE.
Plus Helium 10’s basic plan is still $100 cheaper than ZonBase’s, and it comes with complete access to Freedom Ticket – the second-best Amazon course on the market.
So, you get all of these advantages:
- It’s cheaper to get started
- More features like a refund manager, inventory manager, affiliate portal, and more detailed listing optimization tools
- Freedom Ticket training (more comprehensive than ZonBase Academy)
- Greater accuracy
- Advanced PPC training and high-level webinars from experts
Even though I was really impressed with ZonBase, it’s just not a fair fight.
ZonBase Review Summary
ZonBase Review Deep Dive: What Is It? Pricing, Reputation, and More
What Is ZonBase?
ZonBase is an almost all-in-one Amazon FBA tool suite that drastically simplifies your life as an Amazon seller by putting 14 powerful tools in your hands and training you on how to use them.
Think of it as your FBA store’s hub for research, sales, marketing, and learning the Amazon game.
Instead of paying god-knows-what for 14 different tools, one low monthly subscription to this web-based cloud software allows you to do all of this:
- Quickly discover winning product ideas
- Spy on competitors
- Perform brand rank tracking
- Perform in-depth keyword research
- Easily estimate how many products you can sell per month with its sales estimator
- Run PPC campaigns
- View monthly sales and make informed sales optimization decisions
- View key data at a glance with its Chrome Extension
- Instantly see “Hot Products” and sales trends
Unlike most other platforms out there, ZonBase is user-friendly, simple, and fast. I like how it allows you to cut directly through all the noise and just shows you the valuable golden nuggets that actually matter.
ZonBase Software’s 3 Unique Benefits
After using my free trial, I discovered a few things about Zon that were awesome and hard to find anywhere else.
Next-Level PPC Campaigns
I was legit blown away by how good ZonBase’s PPC autopilot performed and how easy it was to use.
You know Skynet, the evil artificial superintelligence that destroys humanity in The Terminator?
This is basically one step away.
Here’s how it works…
ZonBase’s algorithm automatically creates different campaigns across multiple ad groups. It then analyzes performance and auto-adjusts accordingly.
So, if a keyword is performing well, the AI doubles down. If it’s a dud, the AI reduces spending or eliminates the KW entirely.
It gets better…
The tool also conducts its own research to find high-performing keyword opportunities that can win cheap auctions. This will increase sales and reduce ad spend automatically.
This was probably my favorite feature overall.
Done-For-You Services
This is the reason I checked ZonBase out in the first place.
I was a bit skeptical at first. Shouldn’t your Amazon tools be so good that you don’t need an expert?
But once I tried it out, it all made sense.
Think about all the time you save and the peace of mind of knowing that an expert with proven experience has done all the work for you.
Instead of spending a few hours optimizing one of your listings and then wondering if you have good sales copy, ZonBase’s team will just write the damn thing for you and even polish up the photos.
Here’s the catch though…
These services ARE NOT CHEAP at all. Check out how much PPC services run:
That’s just PPC. In my eyes, it defeats the purpose of choosing an “affordable” platform like ZonBase. You were trying to save money, right? If you have all this extra money lying around, use it for a better tool.
Quick Aside: After using ZonBase for a bit, I noticed a trend. I think that the Zon team focuses more on pushing these services, which could disincentivize them from offering better tools. This will come up a lot as we go along….
Free Amazon Training
ZonBase tries to differentiate itself by offering a ton of free Amazon training.
Helium 10, Jungle Scout, and Viral Launch promote their tools first and their training second. With ZonBase, it feels like the opposite.
Some of the training was pretty basic to me, but I’ve been in the game for a while. It’s all super helpful information.
ZonBase offers:
- ZonBase Academy: Basic training on features.
- Free Zoom Call: I’ve never seen this anywhere else. A real live human being will Zoom you and talk to you about getting started with Amazon, using ZonBase, and basic strategy. It’s a nice touch.
- ZonBase Mentorship: For a few hundred bucks, you can purchase mentorship including weekly Q&A, a private mastermind, and even one-on-one calls every month.
- Amazon Training From Kevin David: Say what you want, but Kevin David knows his stuff. His course isn’t as good as Freedom Ticket, but it’s included in a Pro subscription, so I can’t complain.
3 Reasons I Don’t Recommend ZonBase
I don’t think ZonBase is bad. There are just better offers out there.
Let me cover a few things that I don’t like so you can see why I can’t recommend ZonBase if you’re serious about this FBA thing.
It’s Missing Key Features You Need to Grow
If you choose ZonBase, you’ll eventually hit a wall and stop scaling. Plain and simple. I hate to sound too dramatic, but I feel like you’d be shooting yourself in the foot if you build an online business with ZonBase.
Here’s why…
Once you hit a certain level, getting over the hump to six or seven figures is all about optimizing your business rather than “hustling” to build it. Make sense?
With Helium 10, there are tools to further optimize your business and jump to the next level.
There’s too much to cover here, but let’s just take ops as an example just to show you what you’re missing.
With other tools, you can:
- Automate customer review requests
- Automate follow-up emails for repeat sales
- Prevent coupon stacking
- Automate refund management when Amazon screws up
- Access next-level inventory management tools not available in Seller Central
See the issue here? ZonBase will definitely help you grow and start selling fast. But then what?
How do you take the next step? Do you want to manually request every review? Do you want to pay for email marketing tools to automate follows ups? Do you want to hire an assistant to track and request refunds?
Without tools like this, you’ll be way behind competitors who have all the free time in the world to focus on building a business instead of dealing with all these tedious tasks.
ZonBase Academy Is Very Limited
The videos are about 2-3 minutes long, and they only teach you how to use each of ZonBase’s features. Compare that to Jungle Scout or Helium 10’s training that actually shows you how to build a business.
It’s Not as Affordable as Advertised
ZonBase is definitely affordable, but I’m not sure where they get the stones to say they’re the most affordable tool out there.
Here are a few reasons why this claim is false:
- There’s no free plan
- There’s only a 7-day free trial
- Their Standard plan is $444/year compared to Helium 10’s Starter for $348/year
- Key selling points like “done-for-you” service are wicked expensive
- Access to the best training is only available on the Diamond Plan, which is $1,500+ a year
ZonBase’s Reputation: What Are Other People Saying?
I like to give my readers a taste of what others are saying so they get the full picture.
Let’s take a quick look around at some unbiased sources.
Trustpilot gives it a 4.6/5. Not bad, but there are only 17 reviews, which aren’t enough to give a clear picture.
And some of the reviews seem a tad bit suspect if you ask me. Like this one:
It’s written in a spammyish way, and it’s not detailed at all.
Capterrra also doesn’t give you much to go on:
Reddit was pretty much dead, but I did find some stuff on Quora. Ladies and Gentlemen, behold a paid review or employee of the company itself:
I also went and snooped around Facebook. Normally a large company should have a thriving Facebook environment with happy users and helpful discussions.
ZonBase Mentorship’s group doesn’t have much of anything:
The last post was from early 2021.
The main ZonBase group was a lot bigger and more active, with about 18,000 likes. However, I didn’t actually see a single helpful post. It was all just inspirational copypaste. Like, what the Hell is this?
Thanks for the motivation (slams keyboard in RAGE). I really expected more than this from a community of “experts.”
ZonBase Pricing
I’ve covered this extensively already, so let me give some quick thoughts on pricing here.
ZonBase is a very affordable platform that provides solid tools for finding a great product, finding relevant keywords, making more sales, gaining market insight, and writing great listings.
It’s even got PPC AI that will essentially create, run, and optimize paid ads for you.
As far as selling on Amazon goes, it’s great.
But it’s not nearly as affordable as it’s made out to be. Let’s check out some per-month pricing first:
- Standard: $37 per month.
- Legendary: $67 per month.
- Diamond: $132 per month.
Not bad.
But let’s delve deeper.
Standard is missing the Chrome Extension and is very limited.
You won’t be able to do much at all, meaning you’ll need to pay about $67 per month if you want to actually build an Amazon FBA business. There are definitely more affordable tools for online businesses out there.
And some of their best services come at an additional cost—sometimes hundreds of dollars or more.
While it’s an awesome tool, it’s not the best value for money out there.
ZonBase Features Breakdown
I’d like to pause the ZonBase bash-a-thon for a moment to say that it does have a bunch of really cool tools for Amazon sellers. And, as you’ll see in about 3 seconds, the interface is super clean, fast, and user-friendly.
To make it easier, I’ve broken these down into a few major groups: Product research, sales and marketing, and done-for-you services.
Product Research Tools
ZonResearch
ZonResearch is a beast of a tool that instantly filters Amazon’s massive product catalog and shows you high-potential product ideas.
This saves you from having to do all of the research yourself, which is practically impossible. This is a great way to cut through the noise and proceed with certainty rather than just playing guessing games.
The best thing about ZonResearch is the preset filters called “Base Hits.” They automatically select the most popular niches and optimize filters.
Then the tool shows you winning product ideas with all of the key metrics you need to make an informed decision like revenue, smart score, monthly sales revenue, and a bunch of other helpful numbers.
Chrome Extension
Tons of useful data right at your fingertips in mere seconds. Imagine answering the question “is this a decent product to sell on Amazon?” in a few clicks. That’s the power of the ZonBase Chrome Extension.
The difference between this Chrome extension and pretty much every other Chrome extension out there is that it actually provides valuable data and actionable advice—something I almost never see. That was super impressive.
Thanks for telling me how to do my job, Zon.
Here’s what I mean. Aside from getting sales volume, Smart Score (a measure of demand vs competition), and search history, the ZonBase Chrome extension also shows you super helpful pricing data.
Here’s a good example from ZonBase Academy:
You can input your budget, and the ZonBase Chrome extension automatically calculates all the hard stuff 99% of Amazon sellers neglect doing.
It shows you how many units you can afford, the max you can pay for each unit, and the profit per unit. No tool is 100% accurate, but this is super helpful information.
Thanks, ZonBase Chrome extension.
Hot Products
This is a feature totally unique to ZonBase that shows you trending products without many reviews. These are products people are super interested in that still have low competition.
The tool scours the “100 most gifted products” on Amazon 24/7 looking for items with a noticeable uptick.
I would use a tool like this to see which niches have new products taking off. Just a quick search showed me that pets and fashion accessories are awesome niches since they always have new products with clear uptrends.
You don’t want to be in a niche that’s stagnating, right?
Product Validator
For a few hundred bucks, experts at ZonBase will verify whether your product is viable or not. It’s pretty cool to get a quick answer on “Would a real expert sell this product or not?”
$197 to get an opinion from an expert isn’t bad. As you can see here, they evaluate if you can even launch it (PPC and giveaway competition) and then check if you can make enough sales and compete with the other cutthroats on Amazon.
Sales Estimator
The sales estimator literally only lets you estimate sales.
LOL.
I was floored when I saw the results after pasting in the URL. It showed me basic sales data like how many sales, monthly revenue, and the current price.
It’s definitely helpful to gain sales insights, but all of this data is available elsewhere inside ZonBase like the Chrome Extension, so I’m not really sure what the point of having a separate sales estimator is.
Sales Optimization
Keyword Research (Keywords Tool)
ZonBase decided to give its keyword research tool an extremely creative name: Keywords tool.
“Keywords” is a bare-bones yet helpful keyword search engine that will help you rank and sell. It’s got a “Smart Score” (a basic evaluation of whether a product has potential), a seasonality indicator, and a decent little word cloud.
Combine all of this with search volume, and the keyword finder will rank you for the right keywords.
On the one hand, this type of keyword analysis is great for beginners. It’s simple, relevant, accurate, and helpful.
But it's missing the advanced filters, metrics, and competitor analysis of tools like Cerebro. Anyone using something like Cerebro will almost certainly have an edge on you from Day 1, and that’s not a good thing.
Reverse ASIN
The reverse ASIN tool takes all of the hard work out of ranking your products by showing you exactly what your competitors are ranking for.
See how powerful a reverse ASIN tool can be?
Your competitors have already done the hard work for you. Why not just see what they’re ranking for, reverse engineer it, improve on their listings, and dominate them?
ZonBase’s reverse ASIN feature isn’t as good as Cerebro, though. For example, Cerebro lets you look up and compare 10 ASINs (only 3 with ZonBase), and it lets you see “frequently bought together” products to improve rankings and PPC campaigns.
Still, this reverse ASIN tool is valuable and simple. It also comes with a “Smart Score” and word frequency so you can see which words to include inside your listings.
Check it out:
PageOne
Want to get to the first page of Amazon?
ZonBase’s PageOne claims they can get you there through a combination of giveaways, PPC campaigns, and personal coaching.
They’ll even manage your PPC campaigns for you.
By the way, if you want all of this, it’s going to run you $500.
So, once again, this is definitely a valuable service, and I’m sure these guys know what they’re doing.
But it just keeps adding more evidence to my theory that ZonBase cares more about getting you to pay for their Amazon marketing services rather than providing the best tools in the biz.
ZonTracker
This nifty little gizmo tells you if what you’re doing is actually working.
It shows you how your keywords are ranking, historical data, rankings compared to competitors, and pretty much everything else you’d expect from a keyword analysis tool.
After playing around with ZonBase’s monitoring tool for a while I began to notice a pattern throughout the entire platform: ZonBase’s tools do all the basics, but that’s about it.
That’s totally fine, but for the price, I’d expect a bit more.
Listing Optimization
Listify (Listing Optimizer)
Listify shows you exactly how to write a high-converting product listing that Amazon’s algorithm will rank #1 including:
- The right title
- The exact keywords and phrases
- The best bullet points
- Amazon's best practices like images, characters, reviews, and even image dimensions
It’s not on par with Helium 10’s listing optimizer, but I’m 100% sure you could make excellent product listings with it.
Nothing super remarkable here, either. It shows you all the right keywords, key phrases, and proper best practices. Then, it tracks everything for you as you write.
NOTE: There’s also Listify AI, which is Artificial Intelligence that writes your listings for you, but it’s currently in beta testing.
It analyzes the top 10 product listings for any key term and writes a listing for you based on those. I highly recommend you get a pro to write your listings, but this is worth a try if you’re in a pinch.
Bonus: A Quick Glance at Done-For-You Services
ZonBase has a bunch of done-for-you services that make life WAY easier. If you’ve got the money, why not have experts do all the hard work for you?
Done for you services include:
- Product Validation: They actually do the product research and give the green light on products, so you aren’t playing guessing games.
- Photo Enhancer: Listings with the best images usually sell more and rank higher, so why not let their photo team make your products look epic?
- Product Listing Optimizer: A done-for-you listing service. Their team does the listing copywriting perfectly. This doesn’t only increase sales but also frees up time for what really matters (sleep…).
- PPC Campaigns: I told you before they’ll actually manage your PPC. If you’re a newbie, it's worth the money.
Verdict – Is ZonBase Worth It?
In my opinion, no. Not really. It’s just not the best all-in-one platform. Helium 10 is better at everything.
I really like the idea of PPC autopilot, and it’s definitely good for finding a winning niche, but ZonBase doesn’t stand up to competitors like Helium 10 or JungleScout.
The same theme keeps repeating.
The Amazon training is valuable, but not the most comprehensive. The keyword tool helps, but not enough. The sales estimator does its job, but other tools give more helpful data. Hot products are cool, but they really aren’t that valuable.
And so on and so on.
If ZonBase were cheaper than its competitors, then I’d say HELL YEAH. But it’s not.
So, in the End, I Can’t Recommend Zonbase Because:
- It’s missing key features, which will stunt your growth
- Its main features aren’t that powerful
- It’s MORE EXPENSIVE than Helium 10
- Its Amazon training isn’t as comprehensive as Freedom Ticket
- The company seems to care more about providing services than it does about providing tools
If you want done-for-you services or a basic tool with a simple interface and 0 learning curve, then ZonBase is fine. If you want to take your business seriously and scale fast with the best tools FOR LESS money, get Helium 10.
ZonBase Review F.A.Q.
Q: Is ZonBase worth it?
A: No, ZonBase is not worth it. It has plenty of decent features for Amazon selling like free Amazon training, accurate data for sales estimates, a tracking database, a photo enhancer, and a user-friendly keyword finder. However, it is not as affordable as they say it is, making Helium 10 a much better option. It has better features, it’s cheaper, and it helps with inventory and store management for Amazon FBA.
Q: What does ZonBase do?
A: ZonBase is an Amazon FBA platform with 14 different tools for running your business on the Amazon marketplace. ZonBase software covers three key processes: listings, sales, and products. ZonBase provides helpful information like sales data updates, reverse ASIN lookup results, sales estimates, keywords for your product detail pages, a revenue estimator, AI for product listings, and info on your competitors’ seller ranks.
Q: Which tools and services does ZonBase have?
A: ZonBase has all of the following tools and services: A photo enhancer, a sales estimator (also called a revenue estimator), a keyword tool for finding the best keywords so you can rank on search engines, a listing tool, and an extension. It also offers PPC, listings, and product research services as well. It’s one of the best services for the Amazon marketplace.
