In October 2012 there have been only small changes to the rankings in the top 10 social networking sites.
Google+ is number 4 social media site in the US. However it dropped from its 1.35 percent of market share of visits to 1.29% in October. This is the first time since Google+ entered top 10 list that it didn’t gain market share.
Similarly, Pinterest, dropped slightly to 1.25 percent of market share of visits from 1.27% in the first half of the month.
Twitter has regained some ground and reached 1.88 percent of market share from 1.85 percent in the beginning of the month.
LinkedIn moved sideways to 0.83 percent of visits in October. LinkedIn’s position should grow stronger during November.
Facebook and Instagram are moving sidewaysin October. YouTube has moved to 20.00 percent from 19.80 in the first half of October. MySpace is still in the top 10 list with 0.35 percent of market share of visits.

About this chart
The chart below is in logarithmic scale so that the smaller sites wouldn’t just a single line around 1% of social network market share. Every month in the chart lists the top 10 sites of that time by the market share of visits. Please note that it is just a percentage and 30% in January 2009 is a lot less than 30% in September 2010. The gaps in the the lines mean that the site wasn’t in the top 10 at that time.
