Some time last week Facebook passed a milestone and now more than half of the population of United States is on Facebook. Facebook counts active users that have logged on at least once in the last 30 days. This means that every other person you see from infant to a 100 year old grandma has used Facebook within last 30 days. SocialBakers gives 50.09% as Penetration of US population.

50.09% of US population is actively using Facebook. This places US on the 12th position by penetration. Number one is Monaco with 90.37%. 155,388,440 Americans on Facebook are 64.95% of US Internet users, that makes US the largest country on Facebook, followed by Indonesia with 36,493,440 users.
